About
My name is Mimi McCraney, and here is a little bit about my journey as an artist. Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, I’m currently a senior at the University of Mississippi, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Digital Media Studies. Art has always been a passion of mine, but it was six years ago, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, that I truly began to focus on my creativity and officially started my business. What began as painting dorm room art for friends quickly expanded through social media, and Made By Mimi grew faster than I ever anticipated. Within my first year, I completed over 20 commissions and had the opportunity to collaborate with an interior designer to create custom pieces for her clients.
As I moved into college, I continued painting for my sorority’s banners and designing marketing graphics whenever I could amidst the busyness of freshman year. I became an art major, which has allowed me to grow both technically and creatively, exploring new mediums and techniques. From advanced painting and ceramics to 3D design, photography, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, and even nude figure drawing, I’ve pushed myself beyond my comfort zone. While I’ve enjoyed working in many different mediums, my true passion remains in painting.
In this portfolio, you’ll see a diverse range of my work, from representational art to abstract pieces and custom birthday signs. Representational art is my favorite style, though I’m always open to new ideas and challenges. In 2025, I plan to dedicate more time to growing my business and experimenting with new subjects and techniques. I’m excited to see how my style continues to evolve and can’t wait to share what I create in the coming year!
